Being boat lovers and adventurers of the great oceanic, as family we circumnavigated the Aeolian islands just north off the coast of mainland Sicily in search of aquatic Italian deliciousness.
The beauty of this area is each of its seven main islands which offer a completely different experience. As you sail between them the anticipation of a new adventure on land awaits.
Lipari is the largest of the volcanic archipelago, followed by Vulcano, Salina - full of colourful casa -, Stromboli the ever present erupting volcano, Filicudi, Alicudi and last but not least my favourite, Panarea, a very special place, that I have now visited twice thanks to the wedding of my beautiful friend Francesca Cloros.
All the islands float effortlessly cool in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
TRAVEL NOTES
TRAVEL NOTES
This place inspired an appreciation of laid back Sicily, Mediterranean blues and crisp whites that dip subtly into my interiors often woven in when I can see a connection with water and a touch of European class.
